Math with Mrs. Beer!
I absolutely love teaching math, and it is my goal to teach in a way that my students will “love” math as well. High, realistic expectations are what I set for my students, and I do my best to pleasantly challenge them. I try to teach the curriculum in a way that the students will leave wanting more, or at least having understood more than they would have ever expected.
Daily warm-ups:
Each class period begins with a math warm-up, which is a great way for your child to review math concepts.
Homework:
Since most of the material is new, homework is considered practice; therefore, it is graded only for effort.
Quizzes/Tests:
Quizzes are given approximately every third day. All quizzes are worth 100 points. Any student who is unhappy with his/her score may redo the incorrect problems by the following day. If the problems are redone correctly then the quiz grade will then be raised. Test are given at the end of every unit, which is approximately every three weeks. Tests are worth 200 points.
Help:
If a student needs any math assistance, I am available 1st, 3rd, and 6th periods. With advance notice, I am also available before and after school.
Communication:
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at beert@d62.org or call me at Algonquin at 847-824-1205.
