Eggs
Day 1:
- The students were very excited to receive the eggs on March 15th. We had to make sure the temperature inside the incubator is at about 100 degrees F . By the end of the day the embryos inside of the eggs have had formed eyes.
Day 2
- The hearts begins to beat today! The humidity is up to 58%, we are so close to getting it up to 60%, like it should be!

Day 3
- Today the students discovered the tongue has had formed and the embryos’ heads have moved to the left side.
-
-
Day 4
- The toes begin to form today. The incubator is right at 100 degrees. The students are amazed to see that some eggs are white and some eggs are brown. The reason why some are white and some are brown is because if the earlobes of a chicken are red it lays brown eggs and if it is a chicken with white earlobes it lays a white egg!

Day 7
Today the legs begin to bend at the knee. Also, a row of feather begin to show up on the tail and on the thigh. Everyday the embryos double in size!
Day 8
Today the students discovered that the feathers are starting to form. There are 3 rows of feathers on the tail. Also, the egg tooth has formed. The outside of the eggs have not changed at all.
Day 9
The top eye lids begin to develop today. The knee caps also begin to form.

Day 11
The toes begin curve downward. The beak continues to harden.
Day 12
Today the scales appear on the lower legs.

Day 13- Sunday
Good thing I checked on the eggs today! The humidity had dropped to 19%, yikes! Our little embryos sure are growing!
The fingers of the wings are covered with feathers and the left and right collar bones come together to form the wishbone.
Day 14 – Monday
The embryo turns its head toward the bigger side of the egg where the air cell is. The skull has begun to harden. Only 7 more days!!!
Day 15 – Tuesday
Today the scales, claws, and beak are becoming firm. Also, the small intestines are taken into the body.
Day 16- Wednesday
The embryo turns its beak toward the air cell today, and it is fully covered in feathers.
Day 17- Thursday
The beak continues to turn towards the air cell.
Day 18
Today I took the eggs out of the egg rotator. The eggs do not need to be turned any more! I filled all the troughs and put in 2 sponges to add more humidity. The humidity has to up to 70% now. Now we just wait and see what happens. Here are some pictures I took today.

Day 19
Today when I got to school I noticed a small hole in a couple of the eggs! This is a very good sign!!! Today the beak will break through the inner shell membrane, the lungs begin to function, and the yolk sac begins to enter the body.
Day 20
We are almost there!!! The holes have shown up on a couple more of the eggs!!! They MIGHT start to pip their way through the eggs!!!
