Mrs. Vaziri's blog page – Orchestra

Keeping orchestra students up-to-date!!

IMEA/Solo&Ensemble

IMEA is an organization that offers an opportunity for students to perform with a district-wide orchestra. Students enter through a rigorous audition process with very difficult music to play. Students should already have received music for auditions, but it is voluntary and not required.

Pieces for IMEA 2012 (ask for copies!):
For the Star of County Down
Take Five – won’t be rehearsed at auditions, but will be on the concert
Overture to Semiramide
Serenade for Strings – a semi-okay orchestra as a youtube video

Solo & Ensemble provides musically enriching opportunities for the soloist or ensemble player. Students can choose to play a solo with piano accompaniment or play in a duet, trio, quartet, or quintet. We had great success this year and congratulations to those who participated! Next year will be our Six Flags trip instead of S&E, but we will plan on doing it again in the 2013-2014 school year.

Nope… just the music I gave you. Auditions I believe will be in early October, and you will only be required to play specific sections of each piece. So just do your best to know each piece inside and out!!! Also, do a bunch of active listening (the recordings are under the concert orchestra recordings page) to really get to know the pieces too! See you very soon :)

This is horrible. I want to play in IMEA but haven’t learned shifting yet and even worse, I still haven’t mastered my intonation on 1st position yet so I’m basically in big trouble.

This piece looks quite interesting… I have never heard of it or of the composer.
